Glendale Beeline Line-By-Line Analysis

The Glendale area is in a transit rich environment, served by both Glendale Beeline and Metro. While Metro provides service to neighboring communities and county-wide connectivity, the Glendale Beeline provides local circulation in Glendale, Montrose, La Crescenta and La Canada Flintridge. The Beeline operates eight local bus routes and two Metrolink Express bus routes carrying approximately 13,000 riders on a typical weekday.

The City has recently completed an analysis of the operation of the Beeline transit system. The resulting report “Glendale Beeline Line-by-Line Analysis, September 2009” is available for public review and comment. The report contains:

• current service and patronage data used to evaluate current performance and plan future service;
• rider demographics and travel information to show who uses the Beeline and why;
• an assessment of system wide ridership and route performance of the Beeline and Metro services in Glendale;
• an analysis of current ridership and performance measures at the route, route segment, time of day, and day of week levels to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the current system;
• an analysis of fare payment methods that shows how riders pay for service and that is used to develop fare policies and options; and
• a series of recommendations for Beeline’s transit services.
